Anti-corruption reforms implemented in Armenia under the Convention against Corruption presented to UN Working Groups

Head of the Department of Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring of the Ministry of Justice Lara Petrosyan participated in the Session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Meeting of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on Asset Recovery and Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Meeting to Enhance International Cooperation held in Vienna. Lara Petrosyan was a speaker at the Conference and presented the large-scale anti-corruption reforms that Armenia has carried out to implement the Convention against Corruption. The representative of the Ministry of Justice touched upon the importance of international monitoring mechanisms and reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to properly fulfilling the international commitments assumed. Lara Petrosyan presented Armenia's position and proposals regarding the topics and thematic sequence reviewed under the second cycle of the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, emphasising the fact that the evaluation report is current and the need to properly show the latest reforms carried out in the country. In the first phase of the first cycle of the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, implementation of the provisions of Chapter III (Criminalization and Law Enforcement) and Chapter IV (International Co-operation) of the Convention by Armenia was evaluated. In the second cycle, implementation of Chapter II (Preventive Measures) and Chapter V (Asset Recovery) of the Convention was evaluated.
