Possibility of effective application of house arrest and administrative supervision considered at seminar devoted to "Alternative measures of restraint"

Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan participated in a seminar devoted to "Alternative measures of restraint". During the seminar, the guidelines prepared for probation officers with regard to house arrest and administrative supervision, a practical guide developed for legal specialists, as well as the legislative and practical issues that arise during the application of alternative measures of restraint, were discussed. In his opening remarks, Levon Balyan expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for the assistance that it has provided. At the same time, the Deputy Minister attached importance to the creation of an atmosphere of co-operation during the seminar to find effective solutions to the current challenges. During the meeting, the best practices of European countries with regard to alternative measures of restraint for detention were also presented, and the national experts presented the proposed solutions for alternative measures of restraint at the national level. The event was organised through the joint efforts of the Council of Europe Support to the effective execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Armenia Project and the Strengthening the Probation Service in Armenia Project, which are being implemented for Armenia within the scope of the Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.
