Reforms in the field of children’s protection, alignment with international standards — Levon Balyan participates in 97th session of UN Committee on the Rights of the Child

On 4-5 September, Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan participated in the 97^th session of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva during which the 5^th and 6^th Joint Periodic Reports of the Republic of Armenia on implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child were discussed. The Armenian delegation presented the legislative reforms implemented and expected in the field of protection of children's rights, highlighting the active work of the Government of the Republic of Armenia aimed at strengthening the legislative framework to bring it in line with international standards for the protection of the rights of the child. The Committee members highly appreciated the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, opinions and comments were presented to foster effective advancement of sector-specific reforms in the future. The Armenian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tatevik Stepanyan.
