Deepening co-operation with Eurojust, visa liberalisation regime, budget support — Grigor Minasyan and EU Ambassador consider opportunity to expand co-operation in justice sector

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vassilis Maragos. The Minister highlighted the high level of co-operation with the EU in the context of ensuring democratic reforms and the rule of law in the Republic of Armenia. Grigor Minasyan touched upon the deepening of co-operation with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) and emphasised the importance of signing a draft "Work Arrangement" ensuring implementation of the Eurojust Agreement. The Minister of Justice expressed gratitude to the EU for its assistance in renovation of the two buildings of "Abovyan" Penitentiary Institution and expressed hope that co-operation in this direction will be ongoing. The Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia Vassilis Maragos touched upon the dialogue over visa liberalisation. The parties recorded the actions envisaged in this direction. During the meeting, the process of implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, the EU budget support and the work on development of the “e-justice” unified electronic justice system, were also touched upon. Grigor Minasyan and Vassilis Maragos reached an agreement to continue joint activities in the context of justice sector reforms.
