Items on Armenia-EU co-operation agenda discussed — Minister Srbuhi Galyan receives EU Ambassador

Today, Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan received Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vassilis Maragos. During the meeting, a number of items on the Armenia-EU co-operation agenda were discussed. In particular, the parties positively assessed the reforms being carried out within the scope of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with regard to the judicial system, the fight against corruption and the programmes being implemented in the field of human rights protection.

The Minister of Justice stressed the importance of increasing the reputation of the judicial system among the public at large, highlighting the establishment of the foundations for predictive justice. The EU Ambassador attached importance to the commitment to the EU-Armenia dialogue in this direction. The interlocutors also touched upon the Armenia-EU visa liberalisation process. The parties recorded the role and phased continuation of the EU budget support programmes.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their willingness to deepen and expand the bilateral co-operation.
