Issues related to marriage, recognition of paternity and surrogacy discussed at Ministry of Justice

Today, a working discussion was held with Head of the Civil Status Acts Registration (CSAR) Agency Marina Yaylakhanyan and Consul of France in the Republic of Armenia-Secretary General Aurélie Mocoeur.

During the meeting, a number of functions that are performed within the scope of powers of the CSAR Agency were discussed, and the important issues related to marriage, birth, recognition of paternity and surrogacy, were highlighted. The colleagues’ agenda included the process of registration of marriage in Armenia for foreigners, particularly French citizens; the regulations for recognition of paternity; the procedure for issuance of electronic certificates by the CSAR Agency and the possibilities of verifying their authenticity. The issues of certification of documents with electronic Apostille were also discussed. The parties touched upon the legal relations pertaining to surrogacy in the Republic of Armenia and the specifics of registration of the birth of children born through the use of assisted reproductive technologies, as well as the procedure for mutual recognition of documents issued by Armenia and France.
