Minister presents sector-specific reforms under Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement

Today, Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan delivered a speech at an event organised on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of conclusion of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The Minister emphasised that the Agreement strengthens the relations between Armenia and the European Union, based on democracy, human rights, sustainable social development and economic stability. She stressed that the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has already implemented 18 goals set forth within the scope of the Agreement, i.e. increase in the salaries of judges, reduction of the court workload, digitisation of court proceedings, as well as the success achieved in the field of arbitration and mediation, in regard to which new institutions have been established. She noted that the Ministry has also taken big steps in the area of criminal justice reform. Speaking about the reforms in the anti-corruption field, she highlighted the availability of valid strategic documents that have been approved. The Minister also reminded the fact of call out of Non-Compliance Procedure of the GRECO assessment. Srbuhi Galyan also mentioned that the approximation of Armenian legislation with the legislation of the European Union has a very important place in the strategy of the Ministry. This process is unfolding within the scope of EU-funded projects aimed at ensuring compliance of a number of legal acts. Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, the CEPA civil society platform, as well as diplomats of the EU Delegation to Armenia and member states participated in the event. During the solemn event, directions of the ongoing reforms in Armenia were considered, and the participants exchanged views on the new Armenia-EU partnership agenda.
