Successful co-operation in sphere of mutual legal assistance touched upon — Minister receives Belgian Ambassador

Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Armenia Eric de Muynck. The Minister attached importance to the multi-sector development of the bilateral relations, highlighting the continuity of dialogue in the justice system. The parties expressed willingness to further deepen the current effective co-operation between the two countries and exchange the leading practices within the competences of the Ministries of Justice in the near future. During the meeting, the current successful co-operation in the area of mutual legal assistance, the reforms implemented within the scope of the fight against corruption and the issues related to EU visa liberalisation were extensively touched upon. At the request of the Ambassador, the Minister provided details about the priorities of the Ministry of Justice as she talked about the potential support from the Kingdom of Belgium in the areas of judicial-legal reforms, the fight against corruption, human rights protection, as well as the Penitentiary and Probation Services. The Belgian Ambassador expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium has not been around for a long time in Armenia and clarity of the paths for co-operation is one of the key prerequisites that will help to further strengthen the relations.
