December 9th is International Anti-Corruption Day. On this occasion, the results of the one-month anti-corruption campaign initiated by the Ministry of Justice have been summed up. During the conference entitled "Challenges of combating corruption and the ways to overcome them", Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan conveyed her message to the participants of the conference. She congratulated the participants on International Anti-Corruption Day and mentioned that Armenia has been consistently combating corruption for nearly six years, bearing in mind the idea of "zero tolerance for corruption". She noted that over the past six years, it has been possible to establish institutions responsible for combating corruption in one or other direction, particularly an Anti-Corruption Committee (a special unit within the Prosecutor General's Office) and a specialised Anti-Corruption Court are already operating in the country. The Minister highlighted the important fact that Armenia is no longer among the countries that lack institutional anti-corruption systems. In her message, the Minister stressed that this conference serves as a unique platform for considering the successes achieved in combating corruption and, of course, for touching upon the gaps. In this regard, according to the Minister, it is necessary to make great efforts to lead a more effective fight against corruption in the coming years.
