Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan received U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Kristina Kvien. The Minister attached importance to the consistent support that the U.S. provides to the reforms being carried out in the justice system in Armenia. The priorities of the Ministry's reforms were discussed, and the constitutional reforms and a number of legislative initiatives were particularly touched upon.
The parties expressed willingness to continue the programme-based co-operation being carried out in three key strategic areas (anti-corruption, judicial-legal sector, human rights protection) through the U.S. Embassy and relevant U.S. agencies. Considering the partnership priorities for the next year, the parties stated that they are willing to develop and implement new joint agendas. At the end of the meeting, they touched upon the issue of increasing effectiveness of co-operation in the field of mutual legal assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America.
