Srbuhi Galyan discusses with Ambassador the possibility of introducing India’s experience in digitalisation of the justice sector

Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha. Minister Srbuhi Galyan greeted the Ambassador, expressing gratitude for the visit to the Ministry of Justice and for considering the issues of the two countries in regard to the justice sector. Srbuhi Galyan presented to the Ambassador the priorities of the Ministry of Justice, including the strategic reforms that are being carried out in the judicial-legal sector, the penitentiary and probation sectors, the anti-corruption field and the field of human rights protection. The Minister informed that the Ministry of Justice continues to carry out activities to ease the workload of courts, enhance the alternative mechanisms of dispute settlement, improve the conditions for confinement of persons deprived of liberty and have penitentiary officers with integrity. Srbuhi Galyan also touched upon the works that are being carried out for drafting the new Constitution. Nilakshi Saha Sinha wished the Minister success in carrying out the activities in the specified sectors. The Ambassador shared the successful experience of India in introducing digital, including artificial intelligence tools in the justice sector, and in this context, the potential Armenian-Indian co-operation, was considered. The Minister and the Ambassador also discussed issues related to convicts serving their punishment at the penitentiary institutions in Armenia. The parties agreed to further deepen the current effective co-operation between the two countries in the areas related to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice.
