Opportunities for introducing best practice of justice system considered with Minister for Law of Singapore

The delegation of Armenia led by Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan is on a working visit to Singapore to participate in a high-level event entitled “Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms and Best Practices of an Efficient Court System”. The aim of the visit is to get acquainted with Singapore’s justice system and judicial system, as well as the application of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. Within the scope of the visit, Srbuhi Galyan met with Minister for Law of Singapore Edwin Tong. Srbuhi Galyan presented the justice reforms agenda; in particular, she touched upon the judicial-legal reforms and, in this context, the issues existing in the judicial system and the possible mechanisms for their solution. The Minister for Law of Singapore shared the successful experience of Singapore’s justice system, presented the achievements made over recent decades and attached importance to legislation improvement and the establishment of sustainable institutions, as well as the application of efficient measures and planning of specific time limits and specific rules for examinations of cases. The representatives of the Ministry for Law of Singapore presented the overall activities of the Ministry: directions of the activities, the structure of the judicial system, as well as the current issues and the paths for their solution.
Srbuhi Galyan reached an arrangement for the conclusion of an agreement between the Ministries. The working visit was organised with the support of the Asian Development Bank. Among the members of the delegation were Deputy Minister of Justice Tigran Dadunts, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Artur Atabekyan and President of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation Gor Hakobyan.
