The Minister of Justice receives the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs

  Today, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan received the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman. Permanent representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN, Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative Bradley Busetto in Armenia, Deputy Minister of Justice Vigen Kocharyan and others took part in the meeting as well.

Arpine Hovhannisyan highly appreciated the current co-operation with the representatives of the UN and noted that currently the structures are co-operating within the framework of the Action Plan deriving from the National Strategy on Human Rights Protection, as well as of the draft of the new Electoral Code.

  During the meeting, the parties touched upon the activities of the Task Force set up with the partners of the UN with a view to providing information on electronic voting mechanism, as well as upon a number of questions aimed at making electoral process more reliable.

Jeffrey Feltman extended thanks to the Minister for effective co-operation with the UN office in Armenia, as well as for organisation of activities on the draft of the new Electoral Code in a more transparent and inclusive way.
