Minister of Justice discusses issues of mutual interest with representatives of the Council of Europe

Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan today received the delegation led by Head of the Department of Justice and Legal Cooperation of the Directorate General for Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Hannah Juncker.

Arpine Hovhannisyan highly appreciated the process of implementation of the Programme for "Strengthening the Independence, Professionalism and Accountability of the Justice System in Armenia" and expressed hope that it would be ongoing.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues relating to the achievements of the above-mentioned Programme launched in June 2014 and to be completed in December 2016, as well as discussed the possibility of extending the Programme.

Let us remind that the Programme was targeted at the strengthening of the independence and increase in the level of professionalism of the justice system in Armenia and at the institutional and legislative reforms aimed at bringing the judiciary of the Republic of Armenia in line with European standards.
