Meeting of Inter-agency Committee to sum up Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2015-2018 was held

Today, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan participated in the concluding meeting for the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2015-2018.
In his speech, Vigen Kocharyan extended his gratitude to the partners of the Council of Europe for the close co-operation, emphasising that the Council of Europe Office in Armenia had been a core partner for all the reforms carried out by the Ministry of Justice during recent years.
Deputy Minister Kocharyan noted that effective application of the European standards of human rights at the national level was an important priority issue for Armenia, for which the Ministry of Justice has carried out large-scale legislative activities. At the same time, the Deputy Minister attached importance to the development of skills and potential for effective application of the existing legislative instruments, also emphasising, in this context, the need for close co-operation with the partners of the Council of Europe.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Kocharyan also touched upon the issue of complaints of citizens to the European Court of Human Rights, the process of implementation of the new legislative amendments in the field of criminal justice, issues related to application of measures of restraint, the fight against corruption, the needs for implementation of mechanisms provided for by the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On domestic violence", as well as institutional establishment and capacity-building of the Personal Data Protection Agency for the protection of personal data.
Vigen Kocharyan assured that all the prerequisites exist for implementation of the great potential for co-operation within the scope of the new Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022.
