30/11/2018
Today, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan participated in the inter-professional discussion of the independent expert examination on the concluding observations of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The independent expert examination was carried out within the scope of the project "Strengthening of multisectoral national platform aimed at planning, carrying out and evaluating the activities for ending violence against children".
As Chairperson of the Council for Juvenile Justice, Suren Krmoyan greeted the participants of the discussion and emphasised that the consistent efforts for protection of children’s rights in the format of the Council are leading to visible results. The Deputy Minister attached special importance to the publication of advisory decisions and instructions aimed at protecting children's rights within the scope of personal data protection during coverage of problematic issues with the participation of children or during coverage of issues related to children. Suren Krmoyan urged the participants of the discussion to continue to jointly identify issues related to protection of the rights of juveniles and take measures to solve those issues. Concluding his speech, the Deputy Minister recommended forming — within the scope of the Council — a database of specialised experts in various sectors for protection of the rights of juveniles, who, whenever appropriate and necessary, will be involved in relevant processes.
Afterwards, Narine Solomonyan, an independent expert involved in the Project, presented to the participants of the discussion the results of the expert examination, and the presentation was followed by a discussion held by the participants.
