Today, Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan received Senior Expert of the headquarters of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Germany Jens Deppe and National Coordinator in GIZ Project “Strengthening the Parliamentary Administration in the Eastern Partnership Countries” of the Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform Hrachik Yarmaloyan.

During the meeting, the parties considered a broad range of reforms being promoted by the Regional Fund for Public Administration Reform of the GIZ in Eastern Partnership countries. They particularly touched upon several issues related to the approximation of legislation, e-governance, the reforms in civil service and public service, capacity-building of the personnel of the Parliament and juvenile justice.

Kristinne Grigoryan attached importance to the capacity-building of the Parliament and emphasised that the demand for reforms is due to not only political changes, but also wide public involvement in the processes of legislative and executive management.

Touching upon juvenile justice, Kristinne Grigoryan introduced the amendments that are being made to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes that will essentially solve the sector-specific issues. She also emphasised the activities of the Council for Juvenile Justice and recommended that her colleagues also consider the capacity-building of the Council when considering the possible options for co-operation.

Deputy Minister Grigoryan also discussed with the colleagues several other issues related to the selection of more effective and appropriate formats for co-operation within the scope of approximation of legislation and public administration reforms.

Summing up the meeting, the parties expressed willingness to continue the close co-operation.
