Certificates were granted to 25 trained psychologists during year-end concluding sitting of the Council for Juvenile Justice

On 21 December, the concluding sitting of the Council for Juvenile Justice for the year 2021 was held with the participation of Deputy Ministers of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan and Armen Hovhannisyan and organised within the scope of the "Development of Cross-Sectoral Institutional Infrastructures for Prevention of Violence Based on Child-Sensitive and Gender-Sensitive Approaches" Programme being carried out with UNICEF Armenia.

In her speech, attaching importance to the activities of the Council, First Deputy Minister of Justice Kristinne Grigoryan congratulated the members of the Council for successfully implementing the "Training Course for Psychologists Involved in Execution of the Investigative Operation under Cases of Juveniles, Persons with No Active Legal Capacity or Persons with Mental Health Problems and Domestic Violence", noting this as progress and emphasising that the future actions of the Council for Juvenile Justice also need to be targeted and effective.

In her speech, attaching importance to the activities of the Council, Co-ordinator of the Juvenile Justice Programme of UNICEF Armenia Victoria Ohanyan mentioned that the Council is no longer dependent on the support of international partners, which means that our state has assumed the commitment to advance the agenda for accessible, child-centred justice for the child and to protect children from violence.

In her turn, Head of Office of the United Nations Population Fund in Armenia Tsovinar Harutyunyan congratulated on the training for psychologists and mentioned that this is the start of co-operation between the Office of the United Nations Population Fund in Armenia and the Council for Juvenile Justice.

Afterwards, Head of the Department of Criminal Legislation, Penitentiary and Probation Policy Development of the Ministry of Justice Arpine Sargsyan presented to the members of the Council the main points in the declaration that Armenia will be presenting to the ”End Violence Against Children the Global Partnership“ international network as a benchmark country.

Deputy Minister of Justice Armen Hovhannisyan, Director of the "Legal Education and Rehabilitation Programmes Implementation Centre" SNCO of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Ghulyan and Head of the Division for Protection of the Rights of the Child under the Staff of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Iveta Shahbazyan also delivered speeches during the sitting.

At the end of the meeting, certificates were handed over to the participants of the "Training Course for Psychologists Involved in Execution of the Investigative Operation under Cases of Juveniles, Persons with No Active Legal Capacity or Persons with Mental Health Problems and Domestic Violence".
