Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan discusses with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank the process of establishing an arbitration centre

Minister of Justice Karen Andreasyan received Shixin Chen, Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Paolo Spantigati, ADB Country Director for Armenia also attended the meeting.

The Minister emphasised that the co-operation with the Asian Development Bank within the framework of sector-specific reforms is of an invaluable role. Steps taken for developing alternative dispute resolution methods are also suggestive of effectiveness of cooperation. Minister Andreasyan informed that the Government has already approved the legislative initiative to improve the institute of mediation, and currently, active works are being performed for establishing a new arbitration centre in Armenia, creating new opportunities for examination and disposition of bankruptcy cases.

During the meeting, Minister Andreasyan also presented the strategic approaches to public administration reforms, emphasising the priority to envisage an accessible and high-quality model of services in the public services modernisation agenda.

Shixin Chen highly appreciated the co-operation with the Ministry of Justice and the large-scale activities performed in different directions, also expressing willingness to consider the support of the Asian Development Bank in implementing the Public Administration Reform Strategy that is being implemented under the leadership of the Ministry. Shixin Chen also attached importance to the economic development agenda of the Government, noting that Armenia is a country with prospects for improving the business environment.

Minister Andreasyan stated that establishment of security and peace in the region is an extremely important factor in the development of the economy, with regard to which the Government is making efforts. At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their bilateral willingness to continue effective co-operation and to target new directions.
