Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Sirvard Gevorgyan presents the programmes of the Ministry of Justice envisaged under the 2023 State Budget

Today, the discussions on the 2023 State Budget continued during the joint session of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Sirvard Gevorgyan presented to the Parliament the programmes of the Ministry of Justice envisaged under the 2023 State Budget. Accordingly, AMD 26 billion 35 million 694 thousand has been allocated for implementation of the programmes.

In 2023, the Ministry will implement 8 projects under the State Budget; one of the projects envisages providing 15% of convicts in a penitentiary institution with jobs. The Ministry will continue to ensure the right of persons in penitentiary institutions to education. It is envisaged to re-equip the Probation Service with facilities and infrastructures required for electronic surveillance in order to effectively use the new types of punishment and measures of restraint serving as an alternative to deprivation of liberty.

The Ministry will continue to carry out the works for construction and re-equipment of the buildings of the Anti-Corruption Committee and courts within the scope of the functions reserved for the Ministry.

Many other programmes deriving from strategies and objectives will also be implemented in the course of the year 2023.
