Program Director for Europe and Asia at the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State (INL) James Applegate meets with Grigor Minasyan

Acting Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received the delegation led by Program Director for Europe and Asia at the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State (INL) James Applegate.

The reforms being carried out with the support of the INL programmes of the US Department of State were discussed, the establishment of the Patrol Service within the scope of police reforms and expansion of its volumes in the republic, the promotion of the enrolment of female patrol officers in the Patrol Service, the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the establishment of the Police Guard were specifically touched upon during the meeting. Other collaborations with the INL were also considered, including the reforms in the criminal legislation and anti-corruption efforts.

It was mentioned that the legislative package for formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already been submitted to the Government.

The parties stated the noticeable effectiveness of the bilateral co-operation and the tangible results that have been recorded.

The idea that the Government has organised the process of preparing penitentiary officers with the example of the Patrol Service, which will allow conveying new quality to the work of the system, was also presented.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the effective co-operation and predetermine new paths for co-operation.
