Issues related to provision of targeted state funding for political parties will be regulated - Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan

Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan submitted to the National Assembly the draft Constitutional Law "On making a supplement to the Constitutional Law "On making supplements and amendments to the Constitutional Law “On political parties"”.

The draft will specify the existing functions in the sphere of oversight over the ongoing financial activities of political parties.

Armenuhi Harutyunyan stated that the amendments propose to provide targeted state funding to political parties for the year 2022 without observing the requirements prescribed by parts 7-9 of Article 26 of the Constitutional Law "On political parties".

However, the legal regulations presented in the draft are not aimed at eliminating the power of the Commission to verify the annual reports of political parties in general, but are aimed at further specifying the existing regulations in order to apply such powers more effectively in the future.
