Defective corruption-related acts to be eradicated through efforts of business sector

Head of the Monitoring Division of the Department of Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring of the Ministry of Justice Hasmik Tigranyan delivered her opening remarks during the training course entitled "Fight against corruption and the role of the business sector in the fight against corruption".

Hasmik Tigranyan stated that the Government carries out ongoing activities in the anti-corruption field, as well as emphasised the need for continuity of the fight against corruption from the perspective of strengthening statehood and building a state that will have a strong economy. In this context, the importance of the business sector was also emphasised, through the efforts of which assistance must be provided to the state for the purpose of eradicating defective corruption-related acts and making the investment climate in Armenia more attractive.

Tigranyan presented the achievements that Armenia has made in the fight against corruption over the last 4 years, the anti-corruption reforms associated with the business sector and the amendments envisaging obligations and legal consequences for the business sector (revelation of real beneficiaries, criminal liability of legal persons, etc.).

Tigranyan also presented the directions for reforms that are envisaged for the fight against corruption in the business sector, established under the new National
Anti-Corruption Strategy which is currently in the stage of development.

The training course was held within the scope of the 2022 Communication Action Plan for Fight against Corruption, in co-operation with the Ministry of Justice and the “Corporate Governance Centre” Foundation and with the support of the Center for International Private Enterprise.

Representatives of the business sector, non-governmental organisations and other civil society organisations participated in the training course.
