Drugs, thrown-in packages, mobile phones: The Ministry of Justice presents the progress report for January on prohibited items detected at penitentiary institutions

The officers of the Operations, Security and Safety Divisions of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice detected and prevented the attempts of circulating prohibited items, narcotic drugs, as well as card games at penitentiary institutions.

Thus, the officers of the Operations Division of "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution conducted a physical search of the citizen who had come to a detained person for a short visit. Yellow-green mass resembling narcotic drug of "Marijuana" type wrapped in foil was detected in the hiding place designed in advance in that citizen’s underwear.

The officers of the same Penitentiary Institution subjected to personal search a female citizen who had come to another convict for a short visit. She voluntarily presented the package hidden in her body which contained a mobile phone, with wireless earbuds and 2 separate packages with mass resembling narcotic drug of "Marijuana" type attached thereto with adhesive tape.

In another case, the officers of the above-mentioned Penitentiary Institution detected a suspicious package wrapped with orange net which contained a metallic screw and 3 separate packages filled with masses resembling narcotic drug of "Marijuana" type.

The officers of "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institution conducted an inspection in the middle part of the main wall and residential building of the Institution where a thrown-in package with a yellow-greenish mass resembling narcotic drug of "Marijuana" type was detected.

The officers of "Nubarashen" Penitentiary Institution conducted an inspection of the delivery brought by a citizen for a detained person which contained mashed potatoes with white, crystal-like masses inside.

In another case, the officers of "Nubarashen" Penitentiary Institution subjected to personal search a female citizen who had come to another convict for a visit. From her ankle-half shoes, packages containing suspicious masses resembling drugs were detected. Search was also conducted in the cell of the above-mentioned convict, as a result of which 2 mobile phones, a charger and 5 pairs of earbuds were detected.

The officers of "Sevan" Penitentiary Institution conducted an inspection of the area, as a result of which a thrown-in package containing suspicious brownish and crystal-like masses, 4 mobile phones, 2 subscriber cards and a USB cable were detected.

In another case, the officers of the same Penitentiary Institution conducted an inspection of the area. Upon inspection a package containing separated brownish, powder-like and yellow-greenish masses were detected.

At "Sevan" Penitentiary Institution, in another case, a suspicious package lying on the floor, containing separated white, powder-like and crystal-like masses, as well as pieces of white pills were detected. The inspection revealed that the convict kept a white, powder-like mass in a polyethylene bag, inside the soft furniture placed near his bed.

The officers of the Operations Division of "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution conducted an inspection of the delivery brought by a citizen for a detained person, in the polyethylene bottle with a capacity of one litre containing therein, a suspicious mass resembling a drug was detected.

The officer of the Security Division of "Goris" Penitentiary Institution noticed that an unknown person had thrown a certain object from the nearby street into the area of the Penitentiary Institution. As a result, a package containing a light blue mass resembling narcotic drug of "Marijuana" type and 4 coins were detected.

In all the aforementioned cases criminal proceedings were initiated, forensic-chemical expert examinations were assigned.
