"Armavir" Penitentiary Institution replenished with modern equipment for the diagnosis of tuberculosis of persons deprived of liberty; Levon Balyan tours in the Penitentiary Institution

Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan, accompanied with Sergey Atomyan, Head of the Penitentiary Service, and Kamo Manukyan, Head of the "Penitentiary Medical Centre" SNCO, toured in "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution.

In particular, Levon Balyan became familiar with the new equipment available at "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution. For the purpose of more efficient diagnosis of tuberculosis, as well as for early detection of new cases, a device has been obtained which detects lung tuberculosis with the help of artificial intelligence greatly facilitating the implementation of screening and triage among the beneficiaries suspected with tuberculosis. Due to this latest technology, the number of possible human errors during the interpretation of digital radiographic examination of chest is minimised.

The usage of CAD technology will make the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis, as well as digital roentgenographic examinations of lungs and other organ systems more accessible among people deprived of liberty in the detention facilities. The device has been obtained through the financial support of the Global Foundation.

The Deputy Minister became familiar with the construction works of the room envisaged for ensuring the remote connection of persons deprived of liberty and public defenders, the confinement conditions of persons deprived of liberty and talked with the convicts.
