Armenian-Iranian Committee for Legal Affairs holds first session; high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Iran is on a three-day visit to Armenia

Today, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Deputy Minister Askar Jalalian which is on a three-day visit to the Republic of Armenia.
The Minister greeted the guests and expressed hope that the first session of the Committee for Legal Affairs will foster the strengthening of the Armenian-Iranian cooperation. Grigor Minasyan mentioned the need for mutual actions for further development of the special relations with Iran. The Deputy Minister of Justice of Iran expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and the full agenda.
Askar Jalalian mentioned that until recently the Ministries of Justice of the two countries have had strong partnering relations, which has contributed to the effective sector-specific cooperation.
Grigor Minasyan and Askar Jalalian discussed a number of issues with regard to the transfer of convicts and handover (extradition) of persons having committed crimes. Sector-specific problems and the roadmap for the activities to be implemented for providing solutions to those problems were identified during the meeting.
After the meeting with Grigor Minasyan, the Committee, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Armenuhi Harutyunyan, held its first session devoted to the process of implementation of bilateral agreements and the problems identified.
