Ministry of Justice supports capacity-building of judges; Deputy Minister meets with Acting Head of the International Relations Department of the Swedish National Courts Administration

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan received the delegation led by Acting Head of the International Relations Department of the Swedish National Courts Administration Ludwig Becking.

The activities carried out during the first stage of the bilateral co-operation project "Increasing the capacity of Armenian judges to meet the new expectations on the judiciary and thereby raising public trust in the judiciary” were discussed during the meeting.

The main directions of the project — raising awareness among judges about ethics, anti-corruption and integrity, building capacities of judges to communicate with parties and the media — were touched upon.

The representatives of the Swedish National Courts Administration spoke about the general goals and effectiveness of the project and the mechanisms for raising public confidence in the judiciary.

The Ministry of Justice has expressed its willingness to support implementation of the next stage of the project.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed gratitude to each other for the fruitful discussion and reached an agreement for further meetings and ongoing cooperation.
