08/11/2023

During the session of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Deputy Minister of Justice Ara Mkrtchyan presented the draft law on making amendments and supplements to the Law “On Anti-Corruption Committee”. The draft law proposes to envisage milder requirements for the health condition and physical fitness for the positions of the division of the Anti-Corruption Committee performing operational investigation functions in order to create an opportunity to hire people with specific knowledge and skills in the fields of information technologies or economics or in other fields.

These amendments will help provide an opportunity to replenish the Anti-Corruption Committee with more knowledgeable employees who possess knowledge that is in line with the modern advancements in science and technology. Besides, taking into consideration the fact that the procedure for the use of physical force, special means and weapons by officers of the Committee is not regulated by law, the Draft provides for appropriate legal grounds.

The amendments proposed under the Draft will allow strengthening the fight against corruption crimes.
