Capacity-building of probation beneficiaries, equippedness of electronic equipment; main directions of the probation sector for the years 2024-2026 predetermined

Upon the order of Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan, the main directions of the probation sector for the years 2024-2026 have been approved, within the scope of which it is envisaged to review the status of the Probation Service and ensure social guarantees, i.e. envisaging legislative grounds for the conduct of mediation within the Probation Service, as well as revising the system of conditional early release from punishment, in accordance with the principles of safety, security and social re-integration. It is envisaged to review and amend the legislation, ensuring close co-operation between penitentiary institutions and the Probation Service. It is envisaged to develop planned control measures within the scope of the Probation Service before the conditional early release of the convict from punishment.
Increasing the effectiveness of the work of the Probation Service is always in the focus of the Ministry of Justice and, accordingly, it is planned to equip the subdivisions of the city of Yerevan and those of marzes with technical devices that will ensure for officers of the Service the working conditions required for them to perform their duties properly, including Internet connection and the existence of devices required for electronic surveillance measures within territorial divisions. In another direction, it is predetermined that the Probation Service should have required premises and equipment in order to provide the special service.
In the directions being predetermined, the Service will be replenished with the required electronic means in order to perform the functions prescribed by the newly adopted legislation on criminal justice. It is envisaged to carry out a number of programmes that will help to enhance the professional capacities of the beneficiaries of the Probation Service.
This and a number of other programmes are envisaged in the main directions of the Probation Sector.
