Conditions of confinement in a French penitentiary institution, telemedicine model; Deputy Minister meets with French colleagues

Within the scope of "Strengthening the Protection of the Rights of Persons in Detention" Project being implemented by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan became familiar with the French practice of telemedicine in the prison healthcare system.

Issues related to the progress made in penitentiary systems, the digital services being applied within the system, as well as educational, athletic, artistic and other re-socialisation-rehabilitative programmes were discussed. Levon Balyan had official meetings with the officials of penitentiary institutions and other officials. The Deputy Minister also visited the second largest penitentiary institution in France, the hospital of convicts and became familiar with the structure, conditions of confinement, problems and supervisory functions of the institution, as well as the telemedicine devices. An interactive discussion was held with the administration within the scope of the visit.

Let us mention that Acting Head of the Penitentiary Service Ambakum Grigoryan and representatives of the "Prison Medicine Centre" State Non-Commercial Organisation of the Ministry of Healthcare also participated in the cognitive visit.
