Ministry of Justice launches large-scale awareness campaign for implementation of the Whistle-Blowing System

Within the scope of the fight against corruption, the Ministry of Justice launched a nationwide awareness-raising programme on communication actions of the Whistle-Blowing System for the year 2023 and a large-scale awareness campaign for implementation of the programme.

Today, on 29 November, the programme entitled "How to Promote and Actively Use the Whistle-Blowing System" was officially launched. In their opening remarks at the event, Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan; Head of Political, Press and Information Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia Jan Plešinger and Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Maxime Longangué attached importance to the implementation of the Whistle-Blowing Campaign.

During the event, a Memorandum of Co-operation was signed between the Ministry of Justice and sector-specific civil society organisations, the aim of which is to raise the level of public awareness about the Whistle-Blowing System as a result of bilateral co-operation.

During a panel discussion, representatives of government agencies and non-governmental organisations considered the legislative mechanisms of the Whistle-Blowing System, the mechanisms for protection of whistle-blowers and other issues. As part of the nationwide campaign for the Whistle-Blowing System, it is planned to carry out a number of target actions through the active involvement of sector-specific civil society organisations and international organisations. In particular, the actions to be implemented will include awareness-raising events devoted to the Whistle-Blowing System for regional and community authorities and the educational system, the filming of informational videos about the Whistle-Blowing System and the posting of news on the official websites of state bodies and other actions.

The nationwide whistle-blowing campaign will be held through the co-operation of the United States Agency for International Development, the European Union and the Council of Europe in Armenia.
