Karen Karapetyan summarises with international counterparts the results of the EU-funded "Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia" project

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan delivered a speech at the "Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia" project management committee meeting. In his welcoming speech, Karen Karapetyan highly appreciated the joint efforts of the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund and the OSCE to advance the reforms agenda to build effective and accountable institutions based on the principles of good governance and the rule of law. Karen Karapetyan touched upon the reforms in the justice sector within the framework of the project, indicated the support provided for ensuring and promoting human rights protection in the juvenile justice sector, as well as the significant support provided during the process of constitutional reforms. Touching upon the reforms in the field of human rights protection, the Deputy Minister presented an inclusive process for development of the 2023-2025 Action Plan arising from the National Strategy for Protection of Human Rights, the course of activities and progress made by the Council and the Commission for Constitutional Reforms, as well as provide details about the activities carried out for implementation of the ''Barnahus'' model in the juvenile justice sector. The Deputy Minister extended thanks to the international counterparts and the project team for the tangible support provided to the Ministry of Justice and emphasised the importance of ensuring its continuity.

The "Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in Armenia" project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund and the OSCE.
