Reforms in the public administration system and public service sector continue

Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan presented the package of draft amendments to the Law "On service in national security bodies" and the attached drafts during the extraordinary session of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security of the National Assembly for consideration in the first reading.

In her speech, the Deputy Minister noted that the National Security Service is a body subordinate to the Prime Minister, while the Director and Deputy Directors of the Service are appointed or dismissed by the President in accordance with the current regulation. The current regulations need to be reviewed in such a way that the indicated persons are appointed or dismissed by the Prime Minister.

According to Armenuhi Harutyunyan, upon adoption of the envisaged amendments, the Director of the National Security Service and his deputies will serve as persons holding public positions, while the other national security officers will serve as persons holding military positions. After the comprehensive discussion, the Commission gave a positive conclusion to the legislative initiative of the Government.
