Training procedure for penitentiary officers to be specified

Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan presented in the National Assembly the draft Law “On making a supplement to the Law of the Republic of Armenia ‘On the Penitentiary Service’”. The Deputy Minister noted that the need for adoption of the draft is essential for organising the training of penitentiary officers and ensuring the increase of effectiveness of specialised education. Upon adoption of the draft, a new foundation for dismissal of a penitentiary officer from service will be envisaged, that is, in case the penitentiary officer fails to get the credits prescribed by the individual training program by his or her fault for two consecutive years, and also in case the penitentiary officer gets a negative or “failed” mark by the end of the training courses for two consecutive years.
