Armenia has improved its position in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index
30/01/2024
Based on the results of the annual analysis of the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), compared to the previous year, Armenia has improved its position and recorded an increase of 1 point, moving from 46 points to 47 points. In the classification table of Transparency International for the year 2023, out of the 180 countries included in the classification table, Armenia ranks 62nd. According to the clarifications provided by the Transparency International Analysis Centre, the correlation between corruption and the level of establishment of justice system (judicial system and law enforcement authorities) lied at the core of the research for this year. Let us remind that the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) assesses and ranks countries/territories according to how experts and business leaders perceive corruption in the public sector. It should be mentioned that this year was a very difficult year in terms of the assessment, as several European countries, such as Iceland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom, experienced declines and recorded historically low indicators in 2023.
The Ministry of Justice, as the sector-specific policy-making body, will continue to make efforts to combat corruption.
