Persons processing biometric personal data or personal data under special category must submit notifications — Personal Data Protection Agency

Pursuant to Article 23 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On personal data protection", prior to processing biometric personal data (information characterising the physical, physiological and biological features of the person) or personal data under a special category (information concerning the racial, national belonging or ethnic origin, political views, religious or philosophical convictions, membership to trade union, health condition or sex life of the person), the person processing the personal data shall be obliged to submit to the Personal Data Protection Agency a notice on the intention to process data.
The Agency warns that failure to submit a notification as prescribed by the Law shall entail administrative liability and, at the same time, urges all persons processing biometric personal data and personal data under a special category to be consistent with fulfilment of the obligation to notify.
The notifications must be submitted to the Personal Data Protection Agency at the address of 54b Komitas Street, Yerevan, 0051, or by sending an e-mail to secretariat@justice.am, pdpa@justice.am.
