Minister of Justice and EU Ambassador discuss steps for establishing new co-operation agenda

Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan received Head of the Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vassilis Maragos. At the outset of the meeting, the Minister attached importance to the steps aimed at establishing a new agenda for co-operation with the European Union and expressed his willingness to make all efforts for effective implementation of these steps.

Grigor Minasyan touched upon the visit to Brussels on 4-6 March and the high-level meetings held within the scope of his visit during which importance was attached to the support that the EU provides in various formats within the scope of the reforms in the justice sector.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interest, particularly the results of the EU-funded programmes, the progress of implementation of the Budget Support Programme "Support to the Justice Reform in Armenia, Phase II", as well as new programmes set to be launched within the scope of different EU toolkits, were touched upon. The parties also discussed the deepening of co-operation with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust).

The parties had the opportunity to thoroughly discuss the results of the EU programme "Development and introduction of e-justice solutions in Armenia" and agree on the next steps to be taken to sum up the programme and the expected outcomes.

Vassilis Maragos expressed gratitude for the effective co-operation with the Ministry. He highly appreciated the current level of co-operation and reaffirmed the support of the EU for justice sector reforms.
