08/04/2024

The Personal Data Protection Agency, within the scope of its powers prescribed by law, exercises strict control over the lawfulness of personal data processing.

In particular, the Agency conducts monitoring to see whether persons processing biometric data and personal data of a special category, comply with the data processing requirements.

Due to the violations detected after the monitoring, proceedings regarding a dozen cases of administrative offences were initiated in Q1 of 2024. As a result, administrative penalties were applied against 8 organisations in the form of imposition of fines.

The Personal Data Protection Agency urges all persons processing personal data to strictly comply with the rules of personal data processing. Let us remind that failure to comply with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Personal Data Protection" entails administrative liability prescribed by the Code of the Republic of Armenia on Administrative Offences in the amount of AMD 200-500 thousand.
