Delegation led by Minister of Justice of Georgia is in Yerevan — Armenian-Georgian Legal Forum kicks off

At the invitation of Minister of Justice of Armenia Grigor Minasyan, a delegation led by Minister of Justice of Georgia Rati Bregadze has arrived in Yerevan. On 11-12 April, the Armenian-Georgian Legal Forum will be held with the participation of the authorities of the justice sector from Armenia and Georgia. At the opening of the Forum, Grigor Minasyan highlighted the importance of continuity of such events and mentioned that they provide the opportunity to constantly exchange views on a number of legal issues that are priority and are related to reforms in the justice sector, particularly in the anti-corruption field, the judicial and legal sector, the penitentiary and probation sectors, and to consider the solutions to these issues, the prospects, as well as to exchange experience and skills. The Minister of Justice of Armenia considered important the fact that Georgia is one of the frontrunners in the region in terms of justice sector reforms in Georgia and mentioned that this provides the opportunity to explore and localise the important Georgian experience in regard to many matters or also share the Armenian experience, compare the work done and reforms implemented in the sector. Grigor Minasyan emphasised that, due to these joint activities, a number of reforms in the fields of notarial and electronic management services, the compulsory enforcement, penitentiary and probation systems, as well as in the fields of re-socialisation and legal education of convicts have already been implemented. Grigor Minasyan said it is worth mentioning the significance of the legal co-operation between the two countries within the scope of 8 multilateral international treaties, the 4 bilateral international treaties concluded in the justice sector, as well as co-operation in the field of mutual legal assistance. Chairperson of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Armenia Karen Andreasyan, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Natia Natsvlishvili in Armenia, Director of the European Public Law Organisation Spyridon Flogaitis, heads of the justice system authorities of Armenia and Georgia and other high-ranking officials participated in the Armenian-Georgian legal forum.
