Nationwide competition with the participation of 350 pupils ends; Events for Year of Safe Internet have kicked off

The Personal Data Protection Agency of the Ministry of Justice, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Levon Balyan, summed up the results of the nationwide competition of creative works held under the title "What does the Internet know about me?" About 350 pupils from more than 100 schools participated in the competition. Awards were granted to the first three pupils, as well as to the pupils in the categories of Most Active School, Best Teamwork and Most Enterprising Teacher. A number of children received special and incentive prizes from the partners of the competition. Levon Balyan emphasised the need for children to understand the dangers of online domains and to have command of the rules for protection against them. In this regard, the Deputy Minister attached importance to the co-operation between policymakers, sector-specific specialists, parents and pedagogues in order to create a safer online environment for children. Head of the Personal Data Protection Agency Grigor Nersisyan noted that the year 2024 is declared as the Year of Safe Internet. According to Nersisyan, today, personal data processing is predominantly carried out through the use of information technologies, and violations are most often recorded on the Internet. The second part of the event was the presentation of the guide and booklet "Photos of Children on the Internet: Post without Causing Harm". The guide is about posting photos of children on the Internet, the risks of posting them on the Internet and the use of safe technical means when posting. Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Manasyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Araksia Svajyan and National Coordinator of Projects in Armenia in EaP Regional Fund for PAR/Member of Management Team GIZ Armenia Hrach Yarmaloyan also delivered welcoming remarks at the event.
