27 convicts have opportunity to receive basic education certificate and secondary education completion certificate — results of external final exams summed up

The results of the external final exams for convicts have been summed up at the penitentiary institutions of the Ministry of Justice. Out of the 38 convicts having completed the general education programme who had submitted applications to participate in the external exams for basic education certificate and secondary education completion certificate, 33 took part in the exams; conditional early release from serving punishment has been granted to one convict, 3 refused to participate, and one did not participate due to absence of documents and the impossibility to provide them. Out of the 33 convicts who took part in the exams, 27 received positive assessment. In case they successfully pass the state final exams, they will be granted a basic education certificate and a secondary education completion certificate. Currently, the State Non-Commercial Organisation (SNCO) is carrying out preparatory works with convicts so that they can participate in the state final exams to be held in June. The educational programme at penitentiary institutions was launched in 2022. Convicts over the age of 19 have had the opportunity to receive secondary education through government support. The programme included courses devoted to various subjects and were conducted by the "Legal Education and Rehabilitation Programmes Implementation Centre" State Non-Commercial Organisation. The programme was implemented at "Armavir", "Abovyan", "Artik", "Nubarashen", "Sevan" and "Vanadzor" Penitentiary Institutions.
