Constitutional reforms, judicial system reforms, amendments to electoral legislation — 2022-2026 Strategy implementation progress presented to NGOs

A working discussion on the progress of judicial and legal reforms in Armenia was held with the participation of representatives of non-governmental organisations. The aim of the discussion was to present to civil society representatives the activities carried out within the scope of the 2022-2026 Strategy for Judicial and Legal Reforms and to inform them about the progress and results.
Deputy Director of the "Centre for Legislation Development and Legal Research" Foundation Davit Gharibyan and expert lawyer Maria Petrosyan presented the work done by the Ministry of Justice.
During the event, a number of strategic directions, including constitutional reforms, judicial system reforms and the amendments to the electoral legislation were discussed. After presenting the progress of judicial and legal reforms, Deputy Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of Armenia Lilit Petrosyan presented the Center, as well as the actions that have been taken and are being undertaken for establishment and operation of the Center.
The attendees attached importance to the dialogue with civil society representatives and the need for regular meetings. The partners of the European Union-funded "Public Awareness on Justice Sector Reforms" programme noted that it is planned to organise similar events in some marzes of Armenia in the future in order to ensure increase in awareness about the progress of judicial and legal reforms.
The working discussion was organised on the basis of the Communication Action Plan for the 2022-2026 Strategy for Judicial and Legal Reforms of the Republic of Armenia and the Action Plan arising from the Strategy, as well as with the support of the "Public Awareness on Justice Sector Reforms" programme being implemented through funding provided by the European Union.
