Control over financial operations of political parties, combating corruption in the private sector — Annual conference devoted to corporate governance issues was held

Head of the Department of Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring of the Ministry of Justice Lara Petrosyan participated in the annual conference devoted to corporate governance issues and organised by the Corporate Governance Center. The Head of the Department presented the actions envisaged under the "Business Integrity, Protection of Business Rights and Facilitation of State-Business Administration" strategic goal stated in the Anti-Corruption Strategy. Lara Petrosyan touched upon the adoption of the Corporate Governance Code, the introduction of mechanisms for corruption risks assessment within commercial organisations with state and community participation, the mechanisms to ensure effectiveness of the institution for identifying real beneficiaries, conflicts of interest and anti-corruption mechanisms in the sector of public procurement and the mechanisms of control over the financial operations of political parties. Lara Petrosyan highlighted the importance of leading the struggle against corruption in the private sector for implementation of a comprehensive and effective anti-corruption policy. The conference was organised by the Corporate Governance Center, in co-operation with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) of the United States Department of Commerce and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and among the attendees were high-ranking guests from state bodies, international organisations, as well as international experts from the CLDP, the IFC, the CIPE, the ecoDa and the INSEAD. The conference hosted not only local stakeholders, but also stakeholders from Eastern Europe and Central Asia who are interested in issues related to corporate governance.
