Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice Sirvard Gevorgyan attended the exhibition hosted by the National Archives of Armenia and dedicated to the history of Armenian-Japanese relations. The exhibition was jointly organised by the National Archives of Armenia and the ''Arumenia-Nippon'' Armenian- Japanese Scientific and Cultural Union.

Director of the National Archives Artur Stepanyan emphasised that the aim of the event is to bring to light the Armenian-Japanese relations whereby the foundation will be laid for further deepening and development of the new Armenian-Japanese bilateral relations.

Welcoming the attendees, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Aoki Yutaka mentioned that the exhibited documents, cinematographic and photographic documents and a number of valuable books published in Armenia attest to the close relations between Armenia and Japan. The exhibition featured archival documents on the establishment of Armenian-Japanese diplomatic relations, scientific and cultural ties, the Armenian Question and Japan's involvement in regard to the latter, and all these documents are stored in the National Archives of Armenia.

The exhibition also features interesting documents about Diana Abgar, the world’s first female diplomat and diplomatic representative of the First Republic of Armenia in Japan in 1920. Important and valuable documents with vivid manifestations of humanism between the nations and peoples with regard to the assistance that Armenia provided during the 1923 earthquake in Japan and the humanitarian aid that Japan provided in response to the 1988 Spitak earthquake, are also exhibited.
