Implementation of second stage of EU budget support, measures to assess judges and prosecutors — Karen Karapetyan receives Head of Cooperation Section at EU Delegation to Armenia

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan met with Head of Cooperation Section at the EU Delegation to Armenia Frank Hess. The Deputy Minister attached importance to the role of the EU in implementing democratic reforms in Armenia and ensuring rule of law, particularly emphasising the importance of close co-operation between the EU Delegation and the Ministry of Justice.

During the meeting, the action for comprehensive assessment of the careers of judges and prosecutors within the framework of the TAIEX tool was discussed, within the context of which meetings with international experts and representatives of the bodies of the Republic of Armenia will be held in October 2024. At the same time, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of implementation of the project in the area of protection of personal data and highly appreciated the ongoing support provided by the EU in this direction. The parties touched upon other issues of mutual interest, including developments related to the e-justice system and the implementation of the second stage of the EU budget support.

An agreement was reached to continue the joint activities in the context of reforms in the justice sector.
