Legal assistance in criminal proceedings, domestic implementation of the Rome Statute — Legislative and executive bodies hold working discussion

Deputy Ministers of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan, Karen Karapetyan, Levon Balyan and Sirvard Gevorgyan participated in an outgoing working discussion with representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office and other state bodies that was organised by Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly Vladimir Vardanyan with regard to the draft Law "On legal assistance in criminal proceedings".
Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan provided the participants of the discussion with information on the general provisions of the draft Law, and Head of the Department of Mutual Legal Assistance of the Ministry of Justice Nelly Avetisyan presented the issues related to individual institutions referred to in the draft.
The participants asked the speakers various questions and made recommendations in order for the latter to be incorporated in the draft Law.
Chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly Vladimir Vardanyan conducted a brief analysis of the legislative regulations related to domestic implementation of the provisions of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, and Head of the Office of the Representative on International Legal Matters Liparit Drmeyan provided explanations about the key provisions of the draft Law “On co-operation of the International Criminal Court” and the recommendations for betterment.
