Ministry of Justice continues promoting judicial-legal reforms in line with international standards — Venice Commission has expressed its opinion on three more important legislative packages

On 11-12 October, Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan and Director of the "Centre for Legislation Development and Legal Research" Foundation Tigran Dadunts participated in the 140th Plenary Session of the Venice Commission. The agenda of the session also included the package of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, which provides for improvement of the compulsory sampling procedure, the package of amendments to the Judicial Code, which provides for improvement of the institution of assessment of activities of judges, and the draft of amendments to the Law "On mass media", proposing to recognise and stimulate the self-regulatory mechanisms of the media at the level of legislation. During the meeting, the opinions of the Venice Commission on the afore-mentioned packages were considered, the essential comments of the Ministry of Justice in regard to the opinion of the Commission on the drafts were presented, expressing, at the same time, the willingness to take into consideration the main proposals of the Commission for further improvement of the draft.
