Karen Karapetyan receives EU experts who visited Armenia within the scope of TAIEX instrument for Comprehensive Career Assessment of Judges and Prosecutors

Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan received the delegation led by Head of Cooperation Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia Frank Hess, which included EU experts who have arrived in Armenia within the scope of the TAIEX instrument for Comprehensive Career Assessment of Judges and Prosecutors. During the meeting, the event for comprehensive assessment of the careers of judges and prosecutors was discussed within the scope of the TAIEX instrument, in the context of which the EU experts and representatives of the interested bodies of the Republic of Armenia held discussions on 15-17 October of this year. The EU experts expressed gratitude for the fruitful meetings held with various interested bodies, highlighting the positive impression they received and the open, constructive nature of the discussions. The experts also emphasised the clear willingness of the stakeholders to pursue the reforms, as well as the collective commitment to advancing initiatives. The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the role of the EU in ensuring the rule of law in the Republic of Armenia, particularly in implementing judicial-legal reforms and specifically highlighting the close co-operation between the EU Delegation and the Ministry of Justice.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the importance of a comprehensive assessment to be carried out within the scope of the TAIEX instrument in the stage of development of more extensive and in-depth co-operation between the Republic of Armenia and the EU, taking into consideration the fact that this assessment will become the cornerstone for determining the directions for further reforms. Both parties mentioned the importance of maintaining the ongoing co-operation, stressing its key nature in the context of achieving common goals and implementing reforms.
An agreement was reached to continue joint activities in the context of implementation of reforms in the justice sector.
