Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan had a meeting with Head of the Eurasia Division in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) William Thompson and Head of the Eastern Europe and South Caucasus Unit Daniel Quadbeck. The Deputy Minister attached importance to the role of the OECD in the agenda for anti-corruption reforms and international anti-corruption commitments in Armenia, highlighting the importance of close co-operation between the OECD and the Ministry of Justice within the scope of the OECD Anti-Corruption Network. Karen Karapetyan presented the progress of the whole-scale anti-corruption reforms that are being implemented under the Anti-Corruption Strategy, as well as the areas that are under co-ordination of the Ministry of Justice within the scope of the OECD. The OECD representatives presented the OECD Concept Paper on Access to People-Centred Justice and Expansion of Justice Systems, as well as the mechanisms for management of property forfeited as a result of proceedings for civil forfeiture of illegal assets. The parties reaffirmed that the rule of law and access to justice play an important role in restoring trust, ensuring respect for democratic values and assisting in comprehensive restoration. An agreement was reached to consider appropriateness for expanding activities in these two directions in the future.
