Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan delivered a speech at a high-level international Conference on "Respect for the Decisions of Constitutional Courts".

The Minister emphasised that disrespect towards and non-compliance with the decisions of the Constitutional Court is a path that leads to undermining the legal foundation of the State — something that is unacceptable for the Government of Armenia. Srbuhi Galyan mentioned that the executive power is guided by the principle of respect for the decisions of the Constitutional Court and that this policy is unwavering.

Concluding her speech, the Minister stated that the importance of the role of the Constitutional Court is particularly highlighted in the context of implementation of the large-scale reforms that foster the functioning of a legal state in Armenia following the "Velvet Revolution" in 2018.

During a panel discussion organised within the scope of the Conference, Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan also answered the attendees’ questions.

The high-level international conference on "Respect for the Decisions of Constitutional Courts" was jointly organised by the Venice Commission, the Council of Europe Project "Support to the development of constitutional justice in Armenia in line with European standards" and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia. President of the Constitutional Court Arman Danielyan; Vice-President of the Venice Commission, Judge of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands Martin Kuijer; Ambassadors accredited to Armenia; representatives of international organisations, judges and other officials attended the conference.
